Gotham Cars Sales, one of the largest independent used car dealers in the East Midlands, experiences double digit growth on the Internet

Gotham Car Sales have increased the number of used cars they sell by 60% over the last two years by moving on with the times: and that means selling using the Internet.

Company owner David Pinder comments “We were fortunate enough to secure early entry into this new way of doing business, and 85% of our sales are now due to the Internet and repeat customers.”

When Pinder set up in 1971, Green Shield Stamps was the hugely successful sales promotion scheme. Businesses had to make a large contribution to the scheme, but it generated leads. Customers came from the local villages and surrounding areas, and the business grew.

That original service station business has grown into one of the East Midlands leading independent retailers of quality used cars.

“What a change from 36 years ago. Now, if you’re looking to buy a car, you go to the Internet. Just last week we had phone calls from people in Inverness, Coventry, London, Cornwall and Southern Ireland. They all found our website by searching the Internet.”

The Internet generates used car sales leads, but the traditional values of dependability and trust is what ultimately makes sales. Gotham’s commitment to quality means the vast majority of people who decide to come to view then go on to make a purchase.
